Len Shelley

Recently I saw a retrospective of Len Shelley and his surreal boxes at Hastings Museum.

Wonderful poignant characters that are crafted from a range of bits including dolls,bones and toys.

As if frozen in time these characters appear as if they once moved.

V&A illustration awards.

Below is the work of Laura Carlin winner of the book award for the Iron Man by Ted Hughes.

I love her work it has such drama to it and beautiful painted elements. 

The shadows really make the last image.

The Twitcher's Voyage

This is my first ever attempt at animation so as a result a little on the crude side. I am pleased with some parts and others not so. I really liked working in 3d like this building a set and characters. It was great to build up layers and paint areas letting the whole thing develop quite naturally.
